Welcome to life on campus at EMU!
New Student Orientation for 2008-09:
Saturday, Aug. 23 - Sunday, Aug. 31.
Dear Student,

Ken L. Nafziger, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Life
I am delighted to welcome you to Eastern Mennonite University. I’m confident you will find your years as a member of our academic community both challenging and rewarding. In addition to its standard of excellence in education, EMU is committed to providing opportunities for Christian faith development and personal growth. You may have come primarily for academics, but in student life we believe you stay and thrive because of relationships.
You will begin developing collaborative relationships immediately as you work side-by-side in your orientation groups and get acquainted with the broader Harrisonburg community. Classes give you the chance to know professors on a first-name basis. The housing and residence life staff provides floormates to study, play, pray, and eat with as well as community advisors (CAs) and ministry assistants (MAs). Consider joining several of the more than 40 student organizations, and if you want more activities, there are offerings from Campus Activities Council and Intercollegiate Athletics as well as Recreational Sports and the Fitness Center.
If there is anything I can do to address your student life concerns, please do not hesitate to visit the student life suite or call to set up an appointment at (540) 432-4135. Department directors also welcome your contacts. At EMU, we take the “student” in “student life division” very seriously.
Ken L. Nafziger, Ph.D.
Vice President for Student Life
